The art gallery ‘Contains Art’ has the sea and the harbour on one side and the West Somerset Railway on the other. Not connected to the national railway system, this heritage railway has a toy like quality about it and most of the locomotives used on it are powered by steam.
During the exhibition ‘Transit Transition’ this work was installed in ‘Studio 1’ a second separate container next to the main shipping container gallery. A movement sensor outside activated a model railway shuttle relay system that sent the model railway loco’s backwards slowly and forwards at high speed. The action was reminiscent of a wave breaking and receding.
