The librarians volunteered to pose for photographs holding a blackboard. The photos were turned into miniature pit crew and track marshals.
With the 'Camera Cam' system it was quite difficult to anticipate an upcoming hazard and slow down in time. I developed the 'librarian pit crew' really as 'track marshals' as I thought they might be seen in the camera ahead of a dangerous bend in the track and give warning.

After spending a lot of time there I realised that a surprising amount of the library users were unruly children and suspicious members of the public. A lot of the librarians time and effort is spent 'policing' the library. Consequently I tried to tap into the image of 'librarian as authority figure'. This stance was particularly useful for controlling the starting line up
