The John Deere Gator is an off-road golf-cart like maintenance vehicle often used on farms and public gardens. I even saw one on Brighton Pier once. A ubiquitous vehicle, they are used in Antarctica to get around base.
The sledge box is a particular type used for geological samples (rock samples). The lid lifts off completely and is not hinged like the others I have used hence it hangs off of the box.
The John Biscoe wharf at Rothera. Between the Gator and the oil drums can just be seen a stack of geological sledge boxes.
